Johnny Rockets @ Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya

After the long wait, we finally have the famous Californian based burger chain open up their very first outlet at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara. Being extremely famous for their juicy burgers, we head up here today for dinner to check the place out.

Indoor and Outdoor Seating

Outdoor Seating Area
When we were here, it was almost full house indoors and we decided to sit outside. The outdoor area is well ventilated with fans and hence it was not hot despite being somewhere around 6 in the evening.

The Menu
Their menu was packed with lot's of items but honestly, I was a little disappointed after going through it. Most of their offerings were based of beef and since I do not eat beef, there was only a handful of things that I could order. Even some of those non beef items did have beef bacon in them. Having not been able to try any of their juicy burgers as they were all beef patties, I had to settle for some sandwiches. Fortunately I had a friend with me who does consume beef and I had to rely on his feedback on ratings for some of those items which I could not consume. Experience wise, the staffs were mostly from the Philippines and they were extremely efficient and friendly.

Summary of our Orders

The Cutlery
Once the orders have been finalised, the staffs would return with a summary and place them on the table. Every time an item had been delivered, it would then be struck off from the list.

Strawberry Shakes @ RM 15.90
If you love milk shakes, then their shakes here is a must try. Prepared the true American way, it was absolutely delicious and was really thick. Definitely loved it. I would rate their Milk Shakes at 9.7/10 .

Root Beer @ RM 6.90
Their Root Beers comes in an option of having them plain or with ice cream floats. Though their Root Beer was good, it was not as good as A&W's. I would rate this at 8.8/10 .

1/2 Rings & Fries @ RM 10.90
For starters, we ordered their 1/2 Rings and Fries. They have an option whereby one could choose between potato and sweet potato. Since their sets comes with sweet potato fries, we decided to go for their potato instead.

Potato Fries
Their Potato Fries were good. They were cut thin (shoe string style) and was fried with their skin. Lightly salted, this was good. I would rate their Fries at 8.9/10 .

Onion Rings
Their Onion Rings, in my opinion, was better than their Fries and it was even better than what you get at A&W. They were crispy on the outside and extremely juicy on the inside. Definitely good stuff and I would rate them at 9.3/10 .

Caesar Salad @ RM 13.90

Topped with Beef Bacon
They had a variety of Salad's and my friend ordered their Caesar's Salad. This comes with an option where you could top up to add either Chicken or Tuna for an additional price of RM 7.00 . The Caesar's Salad comes with loads of vegetables, cheese, two half boiled eggs and is topped with beef bacon and grated cheese. Definitely a good alternative for those weigh watchers. The salad was definitely fresh. Taste wise, my friend rated this at 8.5/10 .

Grilled Cheese Melts Set @ RM 15.40
For the Rocket Melts, they have a variety of them that comes with meat but I decided to have one that is plain. If you go for the melts only, then it is priced at RM 12.90 and for an additional RM 2.50, you get those Sweet Potato Fries and Coleslaw which is definitely a better value for money.

Sweet Potato Fries
The Sweet Potato Fries were good. They were perfectly cut to the right size and did not need any additional sauce or flavouring as it was sweet and nice. For a change, this was good. I would rate their Sweet Potato Fries at 9/10 .

Grilled Cheese Melts

Love Their Cheese
Their Cheese Melts comes with an option of either White or Wholemeal Bread and I went for their White Bread. The Bread was toasted on grills to perfection and the Cheese was heavenly. It literally melted in the mouth. I definitely loved this! My rating for this would be 9.3/10 .

Chicken Philly Cheese Steak Set @ RM 26.40
This was one of the other dishes that did not have beef in it. Similar to the earlier set, the plain Chicken Philly Cheese Steak comes at a price of RM 23.90 and for an additional RM 2.50, you could add on some fries and coleslaw.

Chicken Philly Cheese Steak
Perfectly grilled thin slices of Chicken topped with Grilled Onions, Bell Peppers and Cheddar Cheese and served on a Hoagie Roll. Mixed together, it brought out a wonderful taste and was filled with mixed juices from the various ingredients. A heavenly treat. My rating for this would be 9/10 .

Rocketeers Performing
Besides the wonderful food, every now and then, their staff known as 'Rocketeers' would come out and perform a dance to a number of tunes and this was really entertaining. You even get passer byes stopping just to see this performance and from a marketing perspective, this is definitely an excellent strategy.  Overall, the food here was satisfying. It is sad that I could not try their main hamburgers as they were all made out of beef and yet still, I was satisfied with the other dishes tried. Slightly pricey, nevertheless good stuff. Do note that this is a Pork Free restaurant but they do not have the Halal status as they serve beer on their menu.
