Delicious @ Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur

Delicious is a restaurant that needs no further introduction and has been around for a number of years now with a number of branches across the Klang Valley. I have been to this particular outlet numerous times and it is only today that I am blogging about this place. Having a fair amount of offerings on it's menu, this place never fails to attract crowd despite the steep prices and every time I come here, there is always a line ahead of me waiting for their tables to be allocated. Today was no different either. We arrived here for dinner at 7.45 pm and it took us 30 minutes before a table was allotted.

Delicious in Mid Valley Megamall

Interior of the restaurant
The design here has an aesthetic appeal to it and it has been designed in such a way that makes customers at ease despite the noise and all the activity happening around. Just like most restaurants here in Mid Valley, there are both inside as well as outside seating spaces for customers but honestly, you hardly have the privilege of choosing as they are mostly occupied during peak hours unless you end up coming very early. Although I would have preferred to be seated outside as it was a rather cool evening, I had to accommodate to be seated inside as there were no other tables available.

The Menu
Their menu had offerings from a number of different cuisines. To mention some, there were Western, Malaysian, Malay, Italian, Chinese, Indonesian as well as some Indian dishes. The above are just some of the pages from the menu. I had to quickly get over with the photography as I needed to place the orders quickly or else I know that it would take a fairly long time before we got our food and we were already hungry now especially after the long wait time to get a table. Having caught the attention of one of the waitresses after a long attempt of trying to draw their attention, we finally got our orders across.

Pineapple Juice @ RM 12.90

Orange Juice @ RM 12.90
The drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive. Both the juices that we had ordered were good but they were not fully concentrated. Water and sugar had been added to it and a whole load of ice. I guess if the ice is removed from each of those glasses, it would probably be somewhere half of the glass only. Overall it was okay and I would rate these at 7.5/10 .

Hainanese Chicken Chop @ RM 24.90
The Hainanese Chicken Chop does not look quite Hainanese to me. It was deep fried and topped with some deep fried eggs and the gravy was served separately. There were just a few slices of chips and some sauteed peas. The Chicken was okay and the accompanying gravy was just about average. Hainanese Chicken Chop has got to have the gravy been poured on the chicken for it to absorb well into the food and not for the chicken to be dipped into the sauce. That's more like fried chicken dipped into tomato sauce.I do not find this dish representing the true nature of it's name. I would only rate this dish at 5/10 .

Traditional Nasi Lemak @ RM 22.90

Closer Look At The Chicken Rendang

Additional Sambal Udang @ RM 5.90
In contrary, the Nasi Lemak was good. The rice had a strong aroma of coconut milk and it came with two huge chunks of Rendang Chicken. I added the Sambal Udang that was charged at RM 5.90 . The rice was delicious, no doubt about it but the Rendang Chicken was too soggy and slightly salty. I did not quite like that and only ended up having one piece. The Sambal Udang however was very good. For the price paid, it came with two medium sized prawns in a spicy sambal that was heavenly. I would have just preferred to have this Nasi Lemak with the Sambal Udang instead of the Rendang Chicken. I would rate their basic set at 7/10 and their Sambal Udang at 9.5/10 .

New York Cheese Cake @ RM 14.90
Besides good food, Delicious is also famous for it's cakes and I didn't want to miss the opportunity of trying any one of those today. I ordered the above New York Cheese Cake which was a pretty huge portion and we ended up sharing it. The cake was truly delicious. I would rate this at 10/10 . Definitely worth it.

Overall, this is surely a great place to dine but just that you would need to have some patience while waiting for a table and most times, flagging a waitress down while she storms across tables can be an arduous task. Otherwise, definitely a great environment.

  1. The sandwiches here are pretty good too bro.....but as you said, the queue is the biggest pain and it happens across all their outlets.
